What is Silicone Magic?

Silicone Magic MASTERCLASS is a comprehensive series of tutorials to teach you how to make your own silicone baby doll, from start to finish.

  • ​SCULPTING learn step-by-step how to sculpt a full-sized full-body baby in clay, using a tried and tested 'system' compiled by experienced silicone doll artist Carolyn Doughty.  No previous knowledge or experience of sculpting necessary.  72 video tutorials (approximately 25 hours).
  • MOULDING learn step-by-step how to make a mould from your clay baby - first the flexible silicone 'glove mould' and then the hard shell, or 'mother mould' using a lightweight epoxy putty.  All materials are listed to make it easy for you to buy your supplies, along with technical data sheets and safety sheets .
  • POURING learn step-by-step how to prepare your mould for pouring (or casting), and then pour using a soft silicone, and how to get your silicone baby out of the mould afterwards.  All information about materials used and approximate costs, are listed in the course.  22 video tutorials (approximately 8 hours).
  • FIXING learn how to 'seam' your silicone baby and fix any blemishes, bubbles invisibly, so that your blank silicone baby is smooth and virtually perfect and ready to be painted.
  • PAINTING learn how to paint your silicone baby in realistic tones, then seal and matt your baby.  Lots of information about materials and techniques along with step by step video tutorials.  17 video tutorials (approximately 8 hours)
  • ROOTING learn how to root your baby just one or two strands at a time, using soft mohair. 22 video tutorials (approximately 8 hours)
  • TIPS AND TRICKS  including making a silicone-safe sponge, how to use a vacuum degasser, airbrushing, dispelling myths, and lots, lots more!  10 tutorials including diagrams, photos, references and video demonstrations.

There are over 75 hours of tutorials in the whole package, guiding you step-by-step along with diagrams, reference photographs, video notes and cheat sheets, and you can work in your own time, any time of the day or night, and take as long as you need to complete the course.

Who is the tutor?

My name is Carolyn Doughty and I’m a doll sculptor, and silicone doll artist, living in Preston in the UK.  

And, while I don't claim to know it all, I HAVE helped many people like yourself achieve their dream of making their very own baby in silicone, from start to finish.  I help many on their silicone journey through my demo videos on YouTube, I have mentored a handful of artists on their journey to become professional silicone doll artists, and for a good few years I have helped beginner artists through the facebook group Making Silicone Babies.
